{"id":2973,"date":"2015-01-30T09:07:36","date_gmt":"2015-01-30T15:07:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/importnut.net\/models\/?p=2973"},"modified":"2016-03-31T14:11:33","modified_gmt":"2016-03-31T19:11:33","slug":"the-bench-january-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/importnut.net\/models\/the-bench-january-2015\/","title":{"rendered":"The Bench &#8211; January 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The beginning of the year usually follows my push in December to finish projects. \u00a0I develop a momentum and try to keep it going as long as I can. \u00a0After wrapping up a few reworks in December, I dug back into my long running projects.<\/p>\n<p>The 928 and Hemi charger have moved forward. \u00a0The &#8217;82 Hemi charger is going to take quite a bit of &#8220;fabrication&#8221; to make the engine fit. \u00a0Fortunately, RWD V8 swaps in k-cars were conversions done in real life. \u00a0I was able to find pictures of conversion kits and how it was done. \u00a0I will do my best to replicate the details.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve also been working\u00a0with magnets. \u00a0I used 2mm x 1mm magnets to hold the hub caps in place on my &#8217;70 roadrunner project. \u00a0I will also be using them to help keep the doors and hatch closed on my 928 project.<\/p>\n<p>The roadrunner took a major step backwards when I realized that repairing the mistakes I made while painting the body would lead to bigger mistakes. \u00a0I stripped the entire body and will essentially be starting over, body work and all. \u00a0On the positive side, the interior and chassis are complete along with the engine which I wired with a Detail Masters distributor kit.<\/p>\n<p>The VW bus is moving along. \u00a0The suspension is complete and waiting for paint and assembly. I found them in my stash and decided to use them. I&#8217;m glad I did. I glued the magnet on one side, taped the door in place then let the other magnet set itself and glued it. The 928&#8217;s rear spoiler will be a challenge to install on the finished model.
