Just for the sake of saving someone from making the same mistake, I've kept this information available.

Since the "spiral" has been removed, you will need to make your own.  Using a long piece of wire, make several loops that will be placed around the steering column.  The more the better.  If you don't use enough, you will run into the problem of not having enough slack.  This will pull back the blue ring and cause the turn signal cancel to be inoperative.  One end of the wire will pass through the hole in the hub and the other will be  reconnected to the main wiring harness.

NOTE:  Do not use this wiring!  It will get tangled and eventually ground out.
