This Vette was part of a bundle of kits I bought on ebay. Out of the box, it has a set of badly out of scale wheels and tires. My original intent was to list it for sale and forget about it. Then, I decided to mock it with a set of Jays Resin Wheels…and now I have a completed C5 Corvette convertible! I loved the way it looked and had a good reason to build it.

To facilitate better panel alignment, I glued the front bumper to the body. I used putty in the gaps and scribed them back into shape. The hood to fender to bumper interfaces were sanded until they were even.

Nothing outrageous for the interior. Satin black paint, decals and buttons painted with dabs of white paint.

For paint, I used leftover Pontiac Bright red, from Automotive Touchups.com

After clear, the paint was sanded and polished. Detail paint followed.

Proper ride height and alignment were never going to happen with the original mounting pins. I cut them off then carefully glued the wheels in place.

Look at those original wheels! Yuck! Same for the exhaust tips. I fixed those with aluminum tubing and solder.

The fnished project looks amazing!
