The Den

Last Updated: 9-9-2007

This used to be the dining room.  We decided to use the
"living room" as the new dining room since it's much
bigger and can house more people comfortably

Not quite complete, but it's so close, I can taste it!  After spending what seemed like an eternity finishing the trim pieces, Ryan came up for a final push to finish the woodwork in the den.  The only thing left to do is touch-up paint and a few other minor details!

Stain!  Whew!  This is my first real attempt and working on a finished product like this.  Although it is not perfect, I am definitely impressed with how it's turned out so far. I installed the shelf hardware and set the shelves.  We still need to pick up the trim but it's definitely far along in the process!

Ryan slipped up for another weekend of bookcase work and we mounted them to the wall.  I also took the time to finish up the network/telephone/cable jack as well as cleaned and buffed the floor.  Lastly, in this installment, I installed the new ceiling fan.

My good friend Ryan is helping me out with the book case wall project.  We've built the cases and will be ready to install them shortly!

Paint!  We love this color!  It's a very nice touch for the den!

Storage!

Finished Stain

Stain!

New closet door, new closet floor!

Details

The drywall is nearly complete!

Doors!!

The framing for the French doors is nearly complete!  I will have to say that I'm very happy we decided to have the guys take care of the French doors and closet.  I don't thing I could have done it to the same level of success!

More framing, a new threshold (well... "a" threshold since there wasn't one there before...) and a little bit of drywall.

This closet used to be the pantry as well as the guest closet.  We are combining them in order to make one decent sized closet for the den.  The guys are going to do the frame work and drywall and hang the door for the closet along with the new French doors.

More shots of the work in the den.  I haven't really started my
responsibilities, but you can see the work for the new return
air duct work necessary for the HVAC system.

This room was open on both ends.  We've sealed off the door
to the kitchen.
